Registration

A person handling rough diamonds is obliged to register in accordance with Section 27 of Act No 440/2003 on the handling of rough diamonds, on the conditions for their import, export and transit, and amending certain acts, as amended ('Act No 440/2003') (so-called general registration).

In addition to general registration, a person who handles rough diamonds in a manner that involves the import, export, trade or processing of rough diamonds for business purposes must, in accordance with Section 28 of Act No 440/2003, have a special registration (so-called special registration).

Website: Basic information on the import, export and transit of rough diamonds

The submission of an application for a general and specific registration shall not be subject to an administrative fee.

If the Rough Diamonds Application is not functional, a request for general or special registration can be submitted using the forms below, addressed to the designated administrative body – Customs Office in Prague.

 

NOTICE

The import of rough diamonds for business purposes as well as for purposes other than business without appropriate registration is not possible (Sections 34 and 35 of Act No 440/2003 on the handling of rough diamonds, on the conditions for their import, export and transit, and amending certain acts, as amended).

Records on rough diamonds – a person handling rough diamonds is obliged to keep a record of them, which must contain data on the change of ownership rights to rough diamonds and data for their determination (Sections 30 and 31 of Act No 440/2003); the obligation to keep records shall be at least 10 years from the end of the calendar year in which the data change.

Annual report on the handling of rough diamonds – a person who handles rough diamonds in such a way that his activity includes the import, export, trade or processing of rough diamonds (e.g. a person holding a special registration) is required to submit an annual report to the General Directorate of Customs by 31 March of each year for the previous calendar year (Section 32(1) of Act No 440/2003). In the event of any change in the data specified in the registration, the registered person is obliged to notify them in writing to the Customs Office in Prague within 15 days of their occurrence.

If a registered person ceases to handle rough diamonds, he may apply in writing to the designated customs office for cancellation of the registration.​
